Sapphic meet-ups happen once a month at DIH’s office, and they have the goal of providing a space for sapphic people (lesbian, bi, pan, queer, etc.) who are attracted to other sapphic people, as well as those still questioning. The group is inclusive of transgender people, both binary and nonbinary. Each time, the group chooses a different topic and activity; so far, we have had a movie night, a PowerPoint presentation on our sapphic awakening, a trip to the frozen yoghurt shop, and a board games night.
Generally, we follow this structure: a round of names and pronouns, followed by a small icebreaker and the main activity, after which there is a closing activity, usually a reflection or small game. However, as the main activity changes each time, it’s difficult to provide more detailed information about the event. However, you can check the post dedicated to each meet-up on our Instagram or the calendar of Queer events in Slovenia (you can find it on this website), and email or DM us if you would like a more detailed description of a specific time.
When you come to the event we will ask you to fill in the Logbook, the tool we use to report attendance at our events. It’s fully confidential, we will just ask for your gender and age, no personal details. Sometimes we make name tags with names and pronouns to help everyone communicate comfortably. Taking one is completely optional!
There are snacks in the office and you can make yourself coffee or tea if you want. We also have fidget toys available if you need them.
For now, the event is held mainly in English, but two of the facilitators speak Slovene too. If you have any specific questions, accessibility requirements or other needs, please feel free to contact us via email or direct message on Instagram.
We sometimes take pictures at the event, but these usually only include the activity and not people’s faces. However, you can also ask not to be included in the pictures at all!
