Step 4 Change – Youth Exchange

Here you can find the results of our Erasmus+ youth exchange Step 4 Change, which we organised in July 2019. The project brought together 36 young LGBTQIA+ people from Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, Italy, Latvia and Slovenia for 10 days in order to explore and learn about different types and approaches to activism.

As part of the project, the participants interviewed activists from their local areas, met with different associations from Slovenia, created their own activist tools, organised street actions in Ljubljana, connected with and inspired each other and much more.

PREPARATION

During the preparation phase of the project, the team leaders from each participating country gathered on a two-day Advanced Planning Visit (APV) meeting in Ljubljana to finalize the programme, connect with each other and get to know a bit of the Slovene LGBTQIA+ scene through the LGBT tour of Ljubljana led by Suzana Tratnik (Alternative Ljubljana).

As part of the preparation for the youth exchange programme, all the participants had two preparation tasks – introduce themselves to the others in the Facebook group, and conduct an interview with someone from their local activist scene, as a team.

YOUTH EXCHANGE

Between the 17th and the 26th of July the youth exchange programme took place, where the participants had the opportunity to explore different approaches to activism through nonformal education, get to know the practices in Slovenia and implement what they learned by organising their own street actions and creating new activist tools!
